Home > Part four: Our people > New appointments to Mater Group Executive

To support the delivery of the Exceptional Every Time Strategy, the Mater Group Executive expanded in 2016, welcoming Callan Battley (Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer), David Kempson (Chief Information Officer) and Toni Casey (Group Director, Risk and Audit).

Callan has worked in the healthcare industry for almost 20 years, commencing in clinical roles before transitioning to numerous senior management positions. As Mater’s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Callan partners with key leaders, staff and specialists to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based healthcare. He has a range of clinical experience from oncology and general medicine through to intensive care nursing, supporting his extensive experience within the fields of education and staff development.

David joins Mater as our Chief Information Officer with more than 30 years’ experience in the technology field, with the past decade being predominately in healthcare technology leadership roles. David’s vast experience in this sector includes Chief Information Officer roles for healthcare organisations in both Australia and the United States of America, and he also holds the role of section lead on the Digital Hospital Standards Development Team for Standards Australia.

Toni joins Mater following more than seven years with The University of Queensland, and brings a broad range of risk, compliance and audit experience across the commercial and higher education sectors. Toni’s appointment further strengthens Mater’s approach to risk and audit and will increase our focus on key clinical, regulatory, business and compliance risks.

Mater’s CEOs of Research (Professor John Prins), Education (Donna Bonney) and Foundation (Nigel Harris) have also joined the Group Executive.

The appointment of these key leadership positions supports the integration of health, education and research to provide safe, high quality patient care in a sustainable manner.
